Servicing
Cooker maintenance
A cooker service is mostly about gas safety: clean flames, working safety valves and no leaks.
- Clean burners and jets
- Check and re-gap spark electrodes
- Test every flame-failure device
- Leak-test the hose, regulator and valves
- Check the hose for cracks and replace if worn
- Check the oven door seal and hinges
How often: Once a year, and whenever the flame changes colour or a smell appears.
Before you call: quick checks
Lift off the burner caps and wipe them dry. Spills often stop ignition.
Check the cylinder is not empty and the regulator is fully open.
Hold the knob in for 10 to 15 seconds after lighting so the safety valve can warm up.
If you smell gas, do not try to light it. Turn the cylinder off.

Do you replace gas hoses and regulators?
Yes. A cracked hose or a faulty regulator is a common cause of weak flames and gas smells, and we replace both.
Is my cooker worth repairing?
Most cooker faults are igniters, thermocouples, knobs, jets or hotplates. Those parts cost little compared with a new cooker.
